Is buying a home always complicated?
It is not always the easiest process in the world. A good agent can make it a fun time. What looks like it will be a slam dunk sometimes ends up as a problem. Your agent can and will help you, but you have to trust him/her, and understand that they know things you do not. Sales go smoothly when both the buyer and the seller have good representation. Good agents won't put up with nonsense. Buyers occasionally fib about their ability to get money, and sellers fib about the quality of the property. Good agents will advise their clients to tell the truth knowing that if they don't, the deal can fall down. You should not fear getting pre qualified. Rather, look at it as the first step to actually owning your own home. Getting a pre qualification sometimes costs nothing and it is a MUST. Either you can, or cannot qualify. Why leave yourself wondering? Also, a pre qualification tells you exactly how much you can borrow. A Real Estate contract must be signed. Not some piece of paper obtained from a stationery store, but a valid real estate contract issued by the State. This contract is for your protection. Ask your agent to explain anything you do not understand.
